Wire Crochet Crystal Necklace

I was watching the Jewellery Maker channel today and watched guest presenter Fleur Hastings make  a nine strand crocheted necklace with gemstones.  Inspired by the demonstration I had a go at making my own version using just three strands of wire, randomly adding glass crystals and then plaiting the three strands together.

The necklace looks long on the display bust but it is only about 16 inches in length and sits nicely on the neckline.

A close up detail shows the variations in bead shape, size and colour.  If you want to have a go at making this yourself, I used a 3.50 (9) sized crochet hook, 0.25 silver coated wire and a selection of beads from Beads Direct.

An Introduction

Over the years I have amassed a large amount of jewellery making items from glass beads to gemstones and all the various beads in between.  I have a mountain of wire, thread, findings and tools so without further ado thought I would push on with my jewellery making hobby rather than let my stash sit away in boxes.

I already have a blog called Linden Grove that I have been writing for 7 years where I sometimes feature the jewellery that I have been making among other things.  This blog Linden Grove Treasure Trove however, is totally focused on jewellery making.  I am hoping that having a dedicated space to jewellery making will spur me on to make great things!
